Combating Gun Violence

Passed legislation to restrict concealed carry, expand background checks, strengthen red flag laws, raise the age to purchase assault rifles, outlaw ghost guns and guns designed to look like toys, and close other critical legal loopholes.


Cutting Property Taxes

Implemented the permanent property tax cap for nearly $190 billion in savings, passed the EMS Billing effort for over $100 million in savings and raised the income limit for property tax relief programs for seniors and persons with disabilities.

Supporting Our Veterans

As chair of the Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee:

-Elevated Division of Veterans Services to full cabinet-level department

-Expanded Joseph Dwyer Program statewide

-Passed Agent Orange healthcare legislation


Standing Up For First Responders

Delivered on the 16-year effort to pass the EMS Cost Recovery Act, allowing all volunteer fire department emergency medical services to bill insurance rather than taxpayers, designated emergency operators as "first responders in communication" and provided training and resources to support them.


Protecting Your Drinking Water

Secured $100 million to clean up the Bethpage Plume, established the South Nassau Water authority - a municipal entity with the power of eminent domain created to address exorbitant rates, transparency, and water quality issues.
